PATRICIA BRENNAN

Vibraphonist - Marimbist - Improviser - Composer

Originally from Mexico, Patricia Brennan has toured all over the world and has also received numerous awards. Patricia's search for freedom in her musical expression led her to find her voice through the vibraphone and mallet percussion in improvisational music and composition. Patricia is a member of bassist Michael Formanek Ensemble Kolossus. She also performs with Grammy nominated John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble. She has also performed as part of several projects led by pianist Vijay Iyer, including the large ensemble project Open City and several small ensemble performances along with renown musicians like bassist Reggie Workman, trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith and bassist Linda Oh. She is also a member of pianist Matt Mitchell Phalanx Ambassadors along with guitarist Miles Okazaki, bassist Kim Cass, drum set player Kate Gentile and percussionist Satoshi Takeishi. 

Patricia is also member of a collective group of improvisers and composers called ANTENNA that performs regularly in the New York City area. Patricia's other projects also include TRIPTYK, a dynamic trio along with percussionist Noel Brennan and violinist Leonor Falcon. Patricia has also performed with many renown musicians including singer and composer Meredith Monk, violinist Todd Reynolds, singer and composer Theo Bleckmann, saxophonist Tony Malaby and many others. She has performed in venues such as Newport Jazz Festival and Carnegie Hall as well as international venues like Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has also appeared on National Television and Public Radio. Patricia's recent projects include an ECM recording "The Distance" with bassist Michael Formanek Ensemble Kolossus. Patricia also recently recorded a new record with the Grammy nominated John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble this past June 2017. She will also be appearing on Matt Mitchell's new record as part of his project "A Pouting Grimace" expected to be released in the Fall of 2017 under Pi Recordings label.
